Effect of sustained-release nifedipine tablets on circadian rhythm of blood pressure in hypertensive patients

  • The 24-hour blood pressure monitoring method was used to observe the effect of sustained-release nifedipine tablets on circadian rhythm of blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The result showed that nocturnal blood pressure of non-dipper hypertension patients who had taken sustained release nifedipine tablets was decreased significantly, while normal nifedipine tablets had no this effect.We drew the conclusion that sustained-release nifedipine was able to improve the circadian rhythm of blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract: The 24-hour blood pressure monitoring method was used to observe the effect of sustained-release nifedipine tablets on circadian rhythm of blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The result showed that nocturnal blood pressure of non-dipper hypertension patients who had taken sustained release nifedipine tablets was decreased significantly, while normal nifedipine tablets had no this effect.We drew the conclusion that sustained-release nifedipine was able to improve the circadian rhythm of blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
