Progress of Raman spectroscopy in fast detection of counterfeit drugs

  • Counterfeit drugs not only affected drug safe and function, but also disturbed the commerce and social order. It had become so urgently to combat counterfeit drugs. Recently, Raman spectroscopy had been a more and more popular technique in the fast detection of counterfeits. In this paper, the advantages of Raman spectroscopy in fast detection of counterfeit drugs were explained. Combined with the discussion of the methods of the spectral pretreatment and qualitative analysis, the application of Raman spectroscopy in fast detection of counterfeit drugs was reviewed. On the basis of the overview of the present progress of the Raman spectroscopy in fast detection, the future research direction and areas were forecasted.
