Progress of oral sustained-release and controlled-release pellets

  • Objective To summarize the recent advances in oral sustained/controlled release pellets in international and domestic and prospect its developing future. Methods A great quantity of references were comprehensively reviewed. Results Various kinds of information of oral sustained/controlled release pellets including the characteristic,excipients,preparation methods and squash technique were summarized. Conclusions Pellets as multiple-unit drug delivery system have many advantages.With preparation techniques and excipient materials were gradually developed,pellets would play an important part in the development of sustained/controlled release drug delivery system.
